Dinner at BLT Steak

So had a great dinner tonight at BLT Steak. This has to by far be my favorite restaurant currently. Great service, food and ambiance.

Chef Laurent Tourondel has put together a great menu of no nonsense food. Everything from the start was great. You start off with wonderful Chicken Pate with toast and then off to his wonderful (frankly the real reason why we go) Popovers. For the recipe and a full tutorial on how to make them yourself you can also visit My Husband Cooks.

For the appetizers we decided to go for the Tuna Tartar and the Crabcake appetizers. Tuna Tartar is one of the best presentations that I have seen with the Tuna formed in a cube on top of avocado sitting in a soysauce vingarette and is served with potato crips. The Crabcake was great although I have to say for the price i wish they were a bit more careful picking the shell out. Its one thing to have a small piece, but its another to have more than 8 pieces of shell. The spicy coleslaw was a nice addition and really rounded out the dish.

For our main course, we decided to share the hanger steak as well as the potato gnocci and mushrooms. The Hangersteak is a great presentation and the sides were a perfect addition.

Sadly as usual we were too stuffed to eat dessert, but someday we hope to make it to the dessert course. But the chef did not dissapoint as they sent out some really nice warm small brownies with our check.

If you are in Washington DC or in New York you should realy try to hit up BLT.
